Drummer | Percussionist | Educator
Zack is an award-winning drummer, percussionist, and educator, living in Greeley, Colorado. He actively performs throughout Northern Colorado and the Denver Metro area, playing in the house bands for jam sessions, at private events, local venues, and with a variety of groups for festivals. He can commonly be seen performing with the Alex Annan Quartet, the Skyler Mendell Sextet, the Ben Hall Trio, and a plethora of other ensembles.
Zack's musical versatility and wide knowledge of different percussion instruments and styles has landed him on stage several times with the Greeley Jazz Fest All-Stars and the Drew Zaremba Fellowship, where he has shared the stage with artists such as Wayne Bergeron, Camille Thurman, and Samuel Torres.
Zack's passion for music started when he was barely out of his toddler years and begged his parents for a guitar. He played acoustic and electric, but more and more he wanted to drive the rhythm. He found his way to drums when he was 11 years old -- and while he's added a wide variety of percussion instruments and piano to his repertoire -- he never looked back after playing the drums.
After winning multiple awards in his younger years, Zack went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Percussion Performance and a certificate in Jazz Studies from Central Washington University and a Master’s degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Northern Colorado. Among his many experiences was the opportunity to perform with the Spectrum Studio Jazz Orchestra featuring Dick Oatts.
Zack is currently performing with a variety of groups in the Pacific Northwest and teaching private and studio lessons.
Zack plays and teaches jazz, blues, funk, rock, pop, classical... if you can name it, he can play it.
